The Nigerian Senate adjourned Tuesday’s plenary session in honour of a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Isa Dogonyaro, who died on Friday after a brief illness.

This was just as the upper chamber held a minute silence in honour of the lawmaker who is a member of the House of Representatives.

Until his death, the Lawmaker represented Babura/Garki Federal Constituency of Jigawa State in the 10th Assembly of the House of representatives. He was 46 years of age

GALAXY TV reports that the decision to suspend plenary was carried out in line with the tradition of the National Assembly, following a motion moved by the Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Lola Ashiru, and seconded by the Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro

The President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio while putting the motion to a voice vote which was unanimously supported by Senators, commiserated with the family of the deceased lawmaker and the government and people of Jigawa State.

The upper chamber, after a minute's silence in honour of the deceased lawmakers adjourned plenary till Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
