The police spokesperson blamed the community youths who assisted the suspected militants for the death of the policeman after they were overpowered by the militants.

Meanwhile, the wounded police officer and  civilian are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Yenagoa, while efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects.

In the same vein, the Bayelsa police commissioner  Amba Asuquo has called on members of the public to always assist the police in fighting crime rather than assisting criminals.
