The Police command in Ekiti State has dismissed reports alleging that armed thugs in Ado-Ekiti kidnapped Mr Omoyele Sowore, African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate.‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌

The command said Sowore was involved in an altercation with some individuals at a restaurant around the Dalimore area of Ado-Ekiti.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Ado-Ekiti.

Sunday said the police received information about the incident and swiftly mobilised officers to the scene, where they rescued Sowore.

He, however, confirmed that Sowore sustained a minor injury and was receiving medical attention at the Police Hospital in Ado-Ekiti.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Falade Michael, has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident.

Michael said the investigation would establish the circumstances surrounding the altercation and identify those involved.

The Commissioner of Police assured that anyone found culpable would be brought to justice.

He urged members of the public to remain calm and disregard reports alleging that Sowore was kidnapped.

He warned against circulating unverified information capable of triggering panic and tension among residents.

Michael reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, irrespective of political affiliation, status or background.
