Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have arrested two suspects over an attack on vigilante operatives and the burning of their office in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The suspects were arrested at about 1.40am on Tuesday, October 27, in the NEPA area of Jos North by troops of Sector 1 of the joint task force.

The operation’s Media Information Officer, Captain Chinonso Oteh, confirmed the arrests to journalists in Jos on Wednesday, saying the suspects were linked to the attack and subsequent arson.

“The arrest followed allegations linking the suspects to the attack on vigilante personnel and the subsequent setting ablaze of their office,” Oteh said.

He added that the suspects were in custody for further investigation and necessary action.

According to him, the arrests formed part of ongoing efforts by the operation to tackle criminal activities and sustain peace across Plateau State.

Oteh assured residents that security personnel would intensify operations to identify and apprehend individuals whose activities threatened public safety.

He urged residents to provide credible information to support security agencies.

“We call on members of the public to cooperate with the military and other security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing criminal activities and apprehending suspects,” he said.

Oteh added that public cooperation remained crucial to maintaining peace and security in the state.

In a separate incident on Monday, troops arrested a suspected fake soldier in Jos North over alleged phone snatching and public disturbance.

Confirming the incident, Oteh said, “Yes, it is true. That one happened in the Jos North area.”
