The Imo state police command has paraded 49 suspects including a dreaded syndicate who allegedly specialises in stealing and selling children between Imo and Enugu states.


Addressing a press conference at the command's headquarters in Owerri , the commissioner of police Chris Ezike said the crimes committed by the suspects ranges from kidnapping ,armed robbery ,murder and cultism especially in the Ohaji/Egbema loca government areas of the state.

Some of the suspects fielding questions from journalists confessed their involvement in the alleged cases

The commissioner of police who expressed worry over increase in the rate of crime in the society, called on nongovernmental organisations and religious leaders to join in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.

He further assured the people of the state of the command's readiness to provide security of life and prosperity, as they will continue to roll out offensives against criminals through intelligence led to the raids, condone and search of suspected areas, and dealing diligent investigation of arrested suspects including their persecutions

 

Items recovered by the police include Laptops, Mobile phones, foreign Pistols, guns, motorcycles, television sets; the CP said that all the suspects would be charged to court to answer for their crimes.
