The Police have modified their crime fighting approach in Benue State. According to the modified approach, the Police, in joint operation with the Army, take the battle to the bandits, combing the forests and dismantling the camps of the terrorists.

The security operatives no longer wait for the bandits to strike before they respond, they go in search of the bandits in their hideouts.

The Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, accordingly, led Joint Police and Military offensive in flushing out bandits, armed herdsmen and other violent criminal elements hibernating around the villages adjacent to border zones, where bandits have killed and displaced thousands of the inhabitants, who are mostly farmers.

The CP reassured the safe return of people displaced from their communities in Ayilamo and Ayin in Logo Local Government Area, Benue State by armed herdsmen and bandits.

The continuous clearance operation pushing back the bandits from the villages, caused the bandits to flee, though, they responded with several gun shots, as they flee into neighboring communities in Nassarawa State. The Commissioner of Police. CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, vowed to flush out the bandits terrorizing the villages and ensure the safe return of the people to their ancestral homes.

The Commissioner of Police called on residents of neighboring communities to avail the police with information to assist the communities enforce counter-terrorism.
