FG plans ending importation

Nigerians have been urged to compete with other nations on science and technology towards ending the importation of raw materials and develop our own resources for economic sustainability.


This was the message of the Minister of Science and Technology, Igbonnaya Onu at the 15th meeting of the National Council on science and technology held in Benin City, the Edo state capital.

While stating that though Nigeria has not reached its potential on development  of science and technology, he emphasised that structures have been built to achieve it 

Earlier, governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki, who was represented by the Commissioner for science and technology,  Emmanuel Agbare said, the event was a part way to growth adding that it would reduce over-dependent on oil and gas.

The chairman, House committee on science and technology, National Assembly, Senator Robbert Boroface who was also represented by the former Minister of Science and technology, Musa Abdullahi noted that no nation survives without technology.

The delegates and stakeholders from across the states of the federation were present at the event themed; “Nigeria Economy driven by science, technology, and innovation.”
