A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Imo State for allegedly pushing his girlfriend’s 17-year-old sister off a two-storey building after she reportedly resisted his sexual advances.
The incident occurred in the Mbonu-Ejike community in Owerri, the state capital, according to the Imo State Police Command.
The suspect, identified as Joseph Ifeanyi, allegedly attempted to sexually assault the teenager, identified as Chiamaka, before pushing her off the building when she resisted.
The command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, confirmed the arrest in a statement, describing the incident as disturbing.
Police said the teenager was staying with the suspect while her elder sister, who is his girlfriend, travelled outside Owerri for a business trip.
Ifeanyi is currently being interrogated at the police command headquarters in Owerri as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The police said the suspect’s girlfriend was expected to report to the command on Tuesday morning to assist with the investigation.
The command did not provide details about the teenager’s condition or disclose whether the suspect had been formally charged.
