The Borno State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat crime and protect lives and property, following the arrest of Muhammed Bukar, 42, in connection with a reported case of vehicle theft in Maiduguri.

Following a complaint received from a pharmacist, one Abdulwahab Muhammed, who reported that on October 16, 2026, at about 1325 hrs, he parked his Toyota Corolla LE along Muna Road, Maiduguri, to observe prayers. The vehicle contained the following items: One Redmi tablet; cash sum of ₦230,000; cash sum of $200; assorted pharmaceutical products valued at approximately ₦3.3 million; and one ATM card.

Upon returning from prayers, Abdulwahab discovered that an unknown person had taken the vehicle.

Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, directed operatives of the Violence Crime Response Unit (Crack Squad) to immediately commence a thorough investigation into the incident.

Acting on the directive, Crack Squad operatives embarked on an intensive investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect, Bukar, who was found in possession of the stolen vehicle and its contents.

During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed that he used another key to open the vehicle before taking it away from the scene. The recovered vehicle and other exhibits are in custody as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police reassured members of the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to crime prevention, intelligence-led policing and the protection of lives and property. He also urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities and provide useful information to security agencies.
