The incident, according to a press release by the Command's Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, on Monday, November 2, 2026, was reported on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at about 5:30 p.m. by the Officer-in-Charge of Yahe Outstation, ASP Ekurbe Abi.

According to the police, the body was recovered from the river with the head severed, while bloodstains observed at the scene raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the death.
