Nollywood actor and Pastor of the True Salvation Ministry, Yul Edochie, has spoken in support of polygamy, arguing that having more than one wife is not condemned in the Bible.

Edochie shared his view on X while reacting to reports about American pastor Israel Ford, who recently announced his second wife, Shakayla Ford, to his congregation.

“POLYGAMY IS NOT A SIN,” Edochie declared in his post.

The actor pointed to several biblical figures who had multiple wives, arguing that their marriages were not presented as a problem by God.

He further claimed that some men may be suited to having multiple wives but choose monogamy because they are uncertain about their purpose or concerned about how society might judge them.

According to Edochie, such men could be living differently from what he believes is their intended path because of social pressure.

Edochie’s comments came after Pastor Israel Ford of LifeWorks Church in Wickliffe, Ohio, announced his second marriage.

Ford shared a video on Facebook showing himself with his first wife, Lydia Ford, and Shakayla, whom he introduced as his new wife.

The pastor wrote that he was publicly introducing Shakayla Ford as his second wife.

Ford also challenged the idea that Christianity requires a man to have only one wife, describing that belief as inconsistent with his interpretation of the Bible.

The pastor’s announcement has drawn attention online, with Edochie joining the conversation by publicly defending the practice of polygamy.
