Afropop singer Yemi Alade has released her seventh studio album, titled “It’s Yemi Alade”.
The 16-track album, released on Friday, features collaborations with Ferré Gola, Don Jazzy, Singuila, Jeriq and Kenyan artistes Bien, Sofiya Nzau and Njerae.
The project is Alade’s 10th body of work and continues her tradition of bringing together different African sounds and artistes.
Alade had earlier announced the album’s release on Instagram, revealing that the title was chosen by her fans.
“The Album, OUT SEPTEMBER 11TH. I remember when you all made album title suggestions and ‘It’s Yemi Alade’ had the highest votes, and now THE ALBUM is about to be yours,” she said.
The album’s rollout included the release of “Ala Bekee”, accompanied by a comic video featuring Don Jazzy, Destiny Etiko and Nosa Rex.
The video centres on a pre-wedding photoshoot that turns into a playful rivalry between Alade and Don Jazzy.
The album also features three Kenyan artistes, Bien, Sofiya Nzau and Njerae, further highlighting collaborations between Nigerian and East African musicians.
The release follows a busy period for Alade, who received a solo Grammy nomination, appeared on the cover of Forbes Africa and released songs including “Worry”, “My Padi” and “Mbali”.
She has also expanded her activities into the beauty industry with the launch of her cosmetics line, Yem Beauty.
