Gospel singer Tope Alabi has threatened legal action against a Canada-based pastor over social media allegations linking her to the death of fellow gospel minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings.

Alabi’s solicitors, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, issued a cease-and-desist letter dated October 24, demanding that the operator of the Facebook page Pastor Tayo Ministries remove the publications, retract the allegations and issue a public apology within 24 hours.

The letter identified the page operator as Tayo Kumuyi, also known as Pastor Tayo Ministries, and accused him of publishing claims between October 20 and 24 linking Alabi to murder and ritual killings involving Toluwanisings and other gospel ministers.

The lawyers described the allegations as false and challenged the publisher to provide evidence to support them.

“These statements accuse our client of murder and of ritual killing. There is no more serious allegation that can be made against a person, least of all a minister of the gospel. They are false in every particular,” the letter stated.

The solicitors said Alabi had publicly and privately mourned Toluwanisings, insisting that she had no involvement in his death or that of anyone else.

They accused the page operator of exploiting public grief to damage the singer’s reputation and argued that presenting the allegations as spiritual revelations did not automatically exempt them from legal scrutiny.

The letter also cited a subsequent post allegedly directed at Alabi after she issued a public notice warning against defamation on October 23.

Quoting the post, the solicitors wrote: “Tope Alabi, no letter will save you from my hand. Your only option is leaving your hiding place.”

They described the statement as a threat and said it could be presented as evidence of an intention to continue the alleged harassment and defamation.

The lawyers argued that the publications could damage Alabi’s personal reputation, professional standing and ministry. They also said the allegations had attracted reactions, comments and shares, with some readers appearing to believe the claims.

As part of their demands, the solicitors asked the page operator to remove the disputed posts, stop republishing the allegations, withdraw requests for others to share them and preserve relevant evidence, including recordings, messages, drafts and account records.

They also requested an unreserved retraction and apology on the same Facebook page, to remain pinned for 14 consecutive days and receive prominence comparable to the original publications.

The letter further asked the recipient to disclose the factual basis for any allegations maintained and clarify whether the claims had been reported to the Nigeria Police Force or another competent authority.

The solicitors warned that failure to comply within 24 hours could lead to court proceedings seeking injunctive relief, damages and legal costs. They also listed possible complaints to Meta Platforms and referrals of the alleged threats to law enforcement.

They said the legal notice was not intended to prevent truthful reporting, lawful investigations or legitimate commentary protected by law.

Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died on October 14, 2026, aged 41. Alabi had publicly mourned the gospel minister following his death.

The allegations against Alabi and the claims of threatening messages were presented in the solicitors’ letter; the letter itself does not establish that the allegations were independently verified.
