Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings will be buried at his Ibadan residence following an agreement between his widow and paternal relatives, fellow gospel artiste Lanre Alewilese has disclosed.

Alewilese said the family had resolved the disagreement over the singer’s final resting place and appealed to the public to allow his widow, Akanbi Elizabeth, to mourn without further criticism.

Toluwanisings died on October 14, 2026, sparking a dispute over his burial arrangements. His paternal relatives had opposed plans to bury him in a cemetery, insisting that his remains should be taken to Ikirun, Osun State, and laid beside his mother.

The disagreement became heated after his uncle, Lawal Rauf, warned that the family would exhume his remains if he was buried in a cemetery. The singer’s grandmother also threatened to curse anyone who went ahead with such an arrangement.

However, in a video that has since gone viral, Alewilese described the dispute as a misunderstanding fuelled by conflicting advice given to the grieving family and the widow.

He said the singer’s sudden death had left relatives and friends with different opinions about where he should be buried, adding that there was no evidence that the widow had personally opposed burying him at home.

“Nobody can say they heard the claim that the singer should not be buried in his home directly from his wife,” he said.

Alewilese added that both sides had now reached an agreement and urged the public to stop blaming the widow.

He described her as a good and accommodating woman, recalling that Toluwanisings often referred to her as his “peace of mind” before their marriage.

“Let peace reign. Leave the wife alone to have a peaceful life. The criticism is enough,” he appealed.
