Nigerian comedian and actor Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has recounted how a stray bullet injury kept him away from work for months and left him uncertain about his future in entertainment.
The skit maker shared his experience in a YouTube video released on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, revealing the physical and emotional challenges he faced after being shot in March.
According to the entertainer, the incident happened on March 9 while he was returning from a brand activation assignment around the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State. He said he heard a loud bang while stuck in traffic and later discovered that he had been shot in the hip.
Shaggi said he lost consciousness before arriving at the hospital and remembered praying for survival as he waited for medical attention.
The injury left him worried that he might never regain the ability to dance, sing or perform, activities central to his career. He also feared that his prolonged absence would cause fans to forget him.
“I never rest. It’s always back to back,” he said, describing his work schedule before the incident.
The comedian explained that he underwent surgery in Nigeria but needed further treatment and physiotherapy. After about four months, he travelled to Dubai for another operation.
He said his condition improved following the surgery, allowing him to stand with support on the second day and walk with crutches on the third day.
Although he can now stand without crutches, Shaggi said he still uses them for support as he continues his recovery.
The entertainer expressed gratitude for surviving the shooting, noting that the bullet could have struck a more vital part of his body.
Describing his survival as a second chance, he promised fans that he was preparing new projects and looked forward to returning to their screens.
The incident was first reported in March, when police said an investigation had commenced but cautioned against spreading unverified information about the circumstances of the shooting.
