According to the examination body, the move will allow candidates who have genuinely lost access to their credentials to update their details through a controlled process.
In a statement by the Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocols, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB said the revised policy takes effect from Monday, September 21, 2026, following the introduction of enhanced security measures, particularly stronger identity and biometric verification processes.
The Board had previously restricted SIM swapping and email changes as part of measures to protect candidates’ records from fraud and unauthorised alterations.
The review is expected to assist candidates who have lost access to their registered SIM cards or can no longer recover their registered email accounts.
Under the new arrangement, candidates who have lost their registered GSM numbers, including those unable to use the numbers for registration for subsequent UTME exercises, can update their details.
The service will also cover candidates who have lost access to their registered email accounts and are unable to recover them.
JAMB said the process will be available only at designated JAMB CBT, PTC and PRC centres, including state offices where applicable.
Candidates seeking the service are required to provide their new GSM number and/or email address, alongside a duly executed court affidavit, which must be scanned and ready for upload.
JAMB stressed that the process is subject to strict authentication procedures designed to prevent impersonation, fraud and unauthorised alteration of candidates’ records.
The Board also stated that the SIM swap and email change service can only be accessed once by each candidate, urging candidates to use the concession strictly for genuine cases and patronise only designated JAMB centres.
