The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned university applicants that admission offers processed outside its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) may not be recognised for official purposes, including mobilisation for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

JAMB Registrar, Prof Segun Aina, said universities were not authorised to issue official admission letters in place of documents provided by the board.

He gave the warning on Monday when a delegation from Veritas University, Bwari, Abuja, paid him a courtesy visit.

Aina said the Federal Ministry of Education had directed tertiary institutions to process all admissions through the CAPS platform, adding that admissions conducted outside the approved system were invalid.

He expressed concern that some candidates considered admission letters genuine simply because they carried the names and identities of their institutions.

The registrar urged universities to stop issuing such documents and ensure that candidates obtained their official admission letters from JAMB after accepting offers through CAPS.

He stressed that institutions could not substitute their own admission letters for the official documents issued by the board.
Aina warned that candidates admitted outside the approved system could face difficulties with official processes, including NYSC mobilisation, and urged both institutions and applicants to comply with established admission procedures.
