Abia government empowers farmers
Speaking in Umuahia the state capital, the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Uzo Azubuike said the state is fully keying into the federal government's agricultural programmes, aimed at ensuring food sufficiency and discouraging importation.
Azubuike while noting that the state currently has two functional rice mills said that with the support farmers are currently receiving from the government, the rate of rice production will increase in this 2018 farming season.
The Commissioner further stated that the state governmentt is constructing poultry clusters in the three senatorial zones of the state, as one of the efforts to empower the youths and boost the state's economy.
