IGP Reaffirms Nigeria's Commitment To International Policing Cooperation

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to stronger international policing cooperation to combat transnational crime, terrorism and other emerging security threats.

He made the call at the Fifth United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit, UNCOPS 2026, at the UN Headquarters in New York.

The summit brought together ministers, inspectors-general of police and law enforcement leaders from across the world to strengthen collaboration between national police services and the United Nations.

Disu highlighted the growing use of artificial intelligence, encrypted communications and cyber platforms by criminal networks, stressing the need for technology-driven policing anchored on transparency, accountability, human rights and the rule of law.

He also called for greater international cooperation, capacity building and equitable access to digital policing tools for all countries.
