The 106th Kaduna International Polo Tournament is seeking global recognition, with organisers considering a Guinness World Record bid to mark its 106-year history.
The tournament, held at Murtala Mohammed Square, also witnessed defending champions El-Amin claim their 17th Georgian Cup title after a thrilling 10-goal contest.
Led by Mohammed Babangida, El-Amin faced stiff competition from Fifth Chukker, owned by Adamu Atta, and other leading teams in the competition.
The Georgian Cup, regarded as the oldest trophy in Nigerian polo, remains one of the country's most prestigious sporting prizes.
Speaking with journalists at the tournament, FirstBank's Public Sector representative, Bashir Ali, highlighted the competition's 106-year history and said it was being considered for Guinness World Records recognition.
The latest edition brings together leading polo teams in a contest that has become a major fixture on Nigeria's sporting calendar.
El-Amin's victory further strengthens its record in the competition, having now secured the Georgian Cup 17 times.
