Edo Queens Football Club have accepted the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision to play the outstanding extra time of the WAFU-B final on October 29, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt.
In a statement, the club said that while the outcome of the appeal process was not what they had hoped for, they decided to proceed with completing the match in the interest of sporting fairness and to settle the contest on the pitch.
The club made the decision after due consultations with the Board, the Edo State Government and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
"We sincerely appreciate the support and commitment of the Edo State Government and the Nigeria Football Federation throughout the appeal process. We recognise and value their efforts, guidance and support in representing the interests of the club.
"We also extend our profound gratitude to our loyal fans, supporters and members of the media who have stood firmly with us throughout this period. Your voices, encouragement, solidarity and belief in this team have been a tremendous source of strength. We do not take your support for granted.
"Our mission remains unchanged: to fight, to win and to secure our place in the CAF Women's Champions League,' the club said.
Edo Queens acknowledged the disappointment that may arise from the outcome of the appeal, "and we share our supporters' determination to see the contest decided on the pitch. Nevertheless, we have chosen to move forward with courage, discipline, resilience and an unwavering commitment to the badge we represent."
"As we prepare for the decisive encounter in Cairo, we assure our fans and the entire Edo State community that Edo Queens will give everything within our power to emerge victorious. Our players and technical crew remain focused, determined and ready to represent Edo State and Nigeria with pride.
"We therefore call on our supporters to continue standing with us. Keep believing in the Queens, keep raising your voices for the team and keep showing the love and solidarity that have brought us this far. Your support remains invaluable as we prepare for this defining challenge.
"Edo Queens FC is more than a football club; we are a symbol of the strength, ambition and fighting spirit of Edo people. We will carry that spirit with us to Cairo.
"Together, we will fight. Together, we will believe. Together, we will pursue victory and the dream of playing in the CAF Women's Champions League."
