President Bola Tinubu has appointed Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo to coordinate air mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress’ 2027 re-election campaign, placing key aviation officials in the party’s campaign structure.
Under the arrangement, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Olubunmi Kuku, will serve as Deputy Director I, while Farouk Ahmed Umar has been named Deputy Director II.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Sunday by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media to Keyamo.
The directorate is expected to coordinate air travel and related logistics for designated campaign officials, supporting movement across the six geopolitical zones during the party’s nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to the statement, Keyamo’s experience in aviation policy and administration is expected to guide the planning and scheduling of air movements for campaign activities.
Kuku’s appointment brings the head of the agency responsible for managing federal airports into the campaign structure, while Umar is expected to support the directorate’s coordination duties.
The directorate will work with other campaign teams to organise travel arrangements and deploy logistical resources for authorised party engagements.
The statement added that its operations would be subject to aviation safety regulations and electoral laws, with a distinction maintained between party campaign activities and official government functions.
