Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has pledged to mobilise voters across the state to secure the highest number of votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Yusuf made the pledge as he received the All Progressives Congress governorship flag ahead of the 2027 general elections at the party’s presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna State on Saturday.
The event was attended by Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, APC governors and other party leaders.
A statement issued by the Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Kano State Government House, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the presentation signalled the party’s endorsement of Yusuf as its governorship candidate.
The governor had earlier urged members of the Kano State Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council to intensify grassroots mobilisation to deliver a strong electoral performance for the APC.
He called on campaign officials to engage communities, political stakeholders and voters across the state, stressing that the party needed to communicate its achievements and programmes rather than resort to personal attacks against opponents.
Yusuf also urged campaign council members to maintain unity, discipline and constructive political engagement ahead of the elections.
Kano is considered strategically important to the APC because of its large voting population and political influence in Northern Nigeria.
At the Kaduna rally, Tinubu commended governors for their developmental initiatives and contributions to governance.
Yusuf’s participation in the event follows his defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the APC, a move that has altered the political landscape in Kano ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party is expected to use the campaign launch to strengthen its structures and coordinate mobilisation efforts across the country.
