The Senate Committee on Army has commiserated with the Nigerian military and families of the personnel killed in an aircraft crash in Ilaje, Ondo State, on Monday.
The committee chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, described the incident as a painful loss to the Armed Forces of Nigeria, saying the sacrifice of the deceased officers and personnel would not be forgotten.
Yar’Adua, a retired military officer, said he could understand the pain of the families and colleagues affected by the crash.
“These brave men and women answered the call to serve their nation with courage, dedication and honour,” he said.
He extended the committee’s condolences to the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Air Staff and the entire military community, describing the incident as “a sad moment for the entire military family and for the nation as a whole”.
Yar’Adua prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for God to give their families the strength to bear the loss.
The committee also pledged continued support for the military’s efforts to honour fallen personnel and improve the safety and welfare of serving troops.
