The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Door-to-Door Movement 2027 has suspended its planned nationwide political activities indefinitely following the deaths of Nigerian Air Force personnel in an aircraft crash in Ondo State.

The group said the decision was taken in solidarity with the Federal Government, the Nigerian Air Force, the families of the deceased and Nigerians mourning the tragedy.

Its National Coordinator, Sunday Adekanbi Asuku, announced the suspension in a statement issued in Kaduna on Wednesday.

He said the movement’s Grand Patron, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, directed that all scheduled programmes be put on hold in view of the national mourning declared after the crash.

The NAF ATR-42 aircraft crashed on Monday near a naval base in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State while reportedly flying from Benin to Lagos.

Following the incident, President Bola Tinubu declared three days of national mourning and ordered a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.

Asuku said the suspension affected programmes already scheduled in Benue, Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Kwara, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states.

He said preparations for the events were already at an advanced stage, but the movement considered it inappropriate to proceed with political activities while the country mourned the fallen personnel.

According to him, the decision was intended to demonstrate “restraint and respect for the fallen military personnel, their families and the entire nation”.

The group expressed condolences to Tinubu, the leadership of the Nigerian Air Force, the families of the deceased and Nigerians, while commending the sacrifice of military personnel serving the country.

Asuku also apologised to members and supporters who had made preparations for the suspended programmes, assuring them that the movement had not abandoned its planned engagements.

He said a new timetable would be announced after the situation had been reviewed and urged members to remain patient.

The movement also called on Nigerians to pray for the bereaved families, the Armed Forces and the country.
