The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned, amid reports of departures from the state government.
Ogunwuyi announced his decision in a letter dated October 12, 2026, stating that his resignation took effect immediately.
The former chief of staff did not disclose the reason for his departure but expressed gratitude to Makinde for the opportunity to serve in his administration.
“I respectfully write to resign my appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, with effect from today, 12th October, 2026,” he wrote.
Ogunwuyi described his time in government as fulfilling, saying he was honoured to have contributed to the implementation of the administration’s policies and programmes.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour,” he said.
He also praised the team he worked with, expressing pride in what he described as its contributions to the state’s growth and development.
“I remain immensely proud of what we have collectively accomplished in advancing the growth, development and prosperity of our dear State,” the letter read.
Despite his departure, Ogunwuyi expressed confidence in Oyo State’s continued progress and reaffirmed his loyalty to the state and Nigeria.
His resignation comes amid reports of other departures from the Makinde administration, although his letter did not link his decision to any wider political development.
