The Minister of Works, David Umahi has denied the claim that the entire people of the SouthEast has adopted the candidature of the Presidential Candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi ahead of the January 2027 Presidential Election.
Fielding Questions from Newsmen in Abuja on issues relating to the 2027 General Elections, Umahi stated that he has nothing against Peter Obi but against regional politics stressing that he is not the only candidate contesting for the seat.
He said there has been no time the people of Southeast had come together and adopted Obi stressing that four people are running for the seat noting that the people of the region reserve the right to adopt other presidential candidates.
The Minister maintained that it is glaring for all and sundry that it is not yet time for anyone from the region to occupy the position noting that anyone jostling for the position now is just wasting his time and resources.
He condemned those insulting the Presidential Candidate of the all Progressive Congress and the incumbent President, Bola Tinubu saying, Nigerians should always be objective.
The Minister enjoined leaders and members of the opposition parties in the country to desist from campaign of calumny but should based their campaign on issues.
He declared his readiness not to back down on the campaign for the president stressing that the people of the SouthEast have benefited immensely from the renew hope Agenda of the current administration.
