Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has urged corps members deployed to the state to contribute to its development and explore its investment opportunities.
Mutfwang made the call on Friday at the opening of the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream II orientation course and swearing-in ceremony in Jos.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Prince Miaphen, the governor encouraged the corps members to use their service year to contribute to the state’s growth and consider settling, working or investing in Plateau after their service.

He said the state had abundant human and mineral resources, rich cultural heritage, agricultural potential and a favourable climate for enterprise and investment.
Mutfwang said his administration remained committed to creating an enabling environment for young people to discover and maximise their potential.
He urged the corps members to promote national integration and socio-economic development by building bridges across ethnic, religious and cultural divides.
He also advised them to respect the customs, traditions and values of their host communities to promote peaceful coexistence.
The governor pledged the government’s continued support, within available resources, to strengthen the capacity of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to deliver on its mandate.
Earlier, the Plateau Coordinator of NYSC, Mr Jonathan Yavala, urged the newly sworn-in corps members to participate actively in camp activities.
He said the activities would prepare them for the challenges of the service year and life beyond it.
Yavala commended the Plateau Government for its continued support for the NYSC scheme.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 2,168 corps members had registered for the orientation exercise.
