The Northern Elders Progressive Group has urged aggrieved aspirants in the APC to support Senator Sahabi Ya'u Kaura following his emergence as the party's candidate for the Zamfara North Senatorial District rerun primary.
The group said unity among party members would be crucial to securing victory in the 2027 general elections, urging those who contested the primary to put aside their differences.
Its North-West Executive Secretary, Abbas Ahmed Sarki, made the appeal while commending the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for what it described as his neutral handling of the exercise.

In a statement on Wednesday, Sarki said Yilwatda allowed the committee conducting the rerun primary to operate independently without interference from him or members of the party's National Working Committee.
He said the chairman's conduct demonstrated a commitment to internal democracy and fairness.
“Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda has demonstrated that true leadership is about creating an enabling environment for a transparent and credible process.
“His decision to allow the electoral committee to discharge its responsibilities without interference is an excellent example of responsible party leadership,” Sarki said.
The group said reports from its monitoring team indicated that the exercise was conducted fairly, despite alleged attempts by some individuals to disrupt its peaceful conduct.
It added that the independence given to the electoral committee contributed to the successful outcome of the primary.
The elders also congratulated Kaura on his emergence as the APC candidate, urging other aspirants to rally behind him in the interest of the party.
They further commended President Bola Tinubu for his leadership and support for the APC in the North-West, particularly in security, economic growth and infrastructure development.
The group stressed that internal cohesion would be essential to strengthening the party's electoral prospects in Zamfara State and the wider North-West ahead of the 2027 elections.
