An All Progressives Congress (APC) group in Cross River has urged youths and other residents of the state to support the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Bassey Otu.

Mr Edem Bassey, the Director-General, Evidence Group, made the call at the end of the group’s local government tour on Monday in Calabar South,

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Evidence Group, is an APC-based youth-led political support movement.

Bassey urged Cross River youth to take responsibility for shaping the state’s political future by participating actively in the electoral process.

“Our youth should take responsibility for determining the future of our state. We must come out in large numbers to vote and mobilise others to support candidates who will advance our collective interests,” he said.

He urged residents of the state to set aside political differences, and work towards the re-election of Tinubu and Otu through effective grassroots mobilisation.

Mr Effiong Ekarika, the member representing Calabar South Constituency One in the Cross River House of Assembly, urged residents to support Otu for another term in office.

Ekarika said that the governor had demonstrated commitment to inclusive governance, infrastructure, and human capital development.

“Governance should translate into better opportunities, improved infrastructure, and a better quality of life for residents.

“Development is not only about physical infrastructure, it is also about investing in people, and ensuring that nobody feels excluded from the opportunities available in society,” he said.

Ms Mary Patrick, the Calabar South Coordinator, Evidence Group, reiterated the group’s commitment to the electoral victory of Tinubu and Otu in the 2027 general elections.

Patrick said that the group would sustain its grassroots mobilisation, and encourage residents to support APC candidates ahead of the elections.

The Cross River Commissioner for Information, Mr Ekpenyong Cobham, urged residents to support Otu’s administration, saying that the governor has delivered on his promises to Cross River people.

Cobham urged residents not to waste their votes on untested candidates who did not posses the wherewithal to serve the public.
