A Benue-based political coalition backing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid has appointed an All Progressives Congress leader (APC), Chief Akange Audu, as its Director-General to coordinate mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Benue Strategic Alliance for Tinubu 2027 announced the appointment following a meeting of its conveners in Abuja, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by its Publicity Secretary and Administrative Officer, Dan-Morgan Ihomun.

Audu, an APC leader in Zone B and a retired permanent secretary in Benue State’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, is expected to oversee the group’s political activities and grassroots mobilisation.

Other appointments include Joshua Sale as Deputy Director, Msughve Ayua as Secretary, Chief Mrs Joyce Tarka as Head of Women Affairs, and Ihomun as Publicity Secretary and Administrative Officer.

The alliance said it would mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election and back APC candidates for the National and State Assemblies who emerge from the Austin Agada-led state executive committee.

“The Benue Strategic Alliance for Tinubu 2027 is committed to mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” the statement said.

To expand its reach across the state, the group said it had adopted the APC state, local government and ward executive committees under Agada’s leadership as part of its mobilisation framework.

The alliance also said it would work with political parties that had adopted Tinubu as their presidential candidate for the 2027 election, signalling its intention to build support beyond the APC.

The appointments form part of the group’s efforts to establish its leadership structure and organise its campaign activities ahead of the elections.
