Vice-President Kashim Shettima has urged northern leaders and residents to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, insisting that the region has nothing to fear from another four years under the administration.

Shettima made the appeal when he received a delegation of Arewa for Tinubu, a northern-based group campaigning for the President’s re-election.

He called for unity among northern leaders, saying the region’s development and the welfare of its people should remain priorities.

According to the Vice-President, the North has benefited from appointments, projects and programmes under the Tinubu administration, making continued support for the President necessary.

He thanked the group for its backing and urged its members to intensify mobilisation across wards, communities and local government areas ahead of the 2027 election.

Earlier, the group’s Director-General, former Jigawa State Governor Abubakar Badaru, pledged that the organisation would sustain its campaign until Tinubu secured re-election.

Badaru said the group planned to engage religious leaders, including Muslim and Christian clerics, as well as other prominent Nigerians, to persuade them to support the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.

The chairman of the group’s Board of Trustees and former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, also pledged to replicate the mobilisation that helped Tinubu win the 2023 presidential election.

Shekarau said the organisation had been meeting northern governors and other stakeholders to discuss areas of cooperation ahead of the next election.

He disclosed that the group had concluded plans to establish a permanent secretariat to coordinate its activities, with offices for directors and state coordinators to review reports, analyse progress and issue directives to members.

Shekarau also invited Shettima to commission the organisation’s office complex on Saturday, October 17. The year given for the inauguration in the announcement was 2027.
