President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign council has drawn members from across the political divide, with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and several governors elected on opposition platforms named in the campaign structure.
The revised list, scheduled for inauguration at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, includes Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
Their inclusion adds a cross-party dimension to the mobilisation for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, although their appearance on the list does not automatically establish that they have formally joined the All Progressives Congress or endorsed the President’s candidacy.
Wike, a former Rivers State governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, is listed as coordinator for the FCT and Rivers State.
The former governor has publicly declared support for Tinubu’s re-election and recently described himself as the field commander for the President’s campaign in the FCT, pledging to mobilise political stakeholders across party lines.
The campaign structure also lists Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara among the state coordinators, without explaining how his responsibilities would be coordinated with Wike’s role in Rivers.
Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima as first vice-chairman and APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, as second vice-chairman.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq are named deputy vice-chairmen.
Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari will serve as Director-General, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma is named secretary.
Other governors on the list include Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The council also features prominent political figures with responsibilities covering logistics, parliamentary mobilisation, election planning and coordination.
Presidential aide on political matters Ibrahim Kabir Masari is named Deputy Director-General for Logistics and Operations, while former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari will oversee parliamentary mobilisation.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole is listed among the deputy directors-general, alongside other political figures assigned roles in the campaign structure.
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, former Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume are also included.
House of Representatives member James Abiodun Faleke is named Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
The campaign secretariat will be led by Uzodimma, with APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru as deputy secretary and Hadiza Bala Usman as assistant secretary.
The advisory team includes former Osun State Governor Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor Segun Osoba, former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu and former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Other advisers named include Senator Rufai Sani Hanga, Senator Iyiola Omisore, former Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo and Finance Minister Wale Edun. Obafemi George is listed as media adviser.
The council’s structure provides for zonal coordinators across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, supported by coordinators in the 36 states and the FCT.
The appointments are intended to establish a nationwide network for political mobilisation, campaign coordination and election planning ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
