The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Oyo State governorship, Sen. Sharafadeen Alli, has unveiled his manifesto ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Alli unveiled the policy document, tagged ‘Oyo Ahead’, on Tuesday in Ibadan.

He promised to grant full local government autonomy if elected.

He added that his administration would ensure financial, administrative and political independence for the state’s 33 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

According to him, local government autonomy is critical to grassroots development, noting that empowering councils will accelerate rural infrastructure, primary healthcare delivery and basic education.

Alli promised to sign an executive order to ensure that local councils receive their funds directly.

He added that every council would be given free rein to execute its projects.

On infrastructure, he promised to complete all unfinished road projects in the state, while new projects would be executed to a minimum of a 20-year standard.

He added that no family land or house would be touched without adequate compensation.

On health, Alli decried the shortage of medical personnel in health facilities.

He promised to empower the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board and guarantee free healthcare for infants and pregnant women.

On education, he condemned Oyo State’s ranking as the state with the highest number of out-of-school children in the South-West.

He promised to ensure 30 pupils per class, safe schools, care for persons with disabilities and certified vocational training.

On the economy, Alli said many young people were leaving the state due to unemployment.

He promised industrial parks, the revival of the Oluyole Free Trade Zone, an end to multiple taxation, and single-digit loans for market women.

In addition, the governorship candidate promised to publish revenue quarterly and pay workers and pensioners on or before the 25th of every month.

Earlier, the APC State Chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo, said the party would take the action plan to all 351 wards across the 33 LGAs through peaceful campaigns.

Adeyemo, represented by the Deputy State Chairman, Dr Taofeek Lamidi, commended aspirants who stayed with the party despite losing in the primaries.

According to him, this has made the party remain one big family.

He urged members not to relent in their efforts to help the party emerge victorious in the elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that dignitaries at the event included former deputy governors Iyiola Oladokun, Taofeek Arapaja, and Rauf Alaniyan.

Others were the Minister of Power, Chief Joseph Tegbe, and a former governor’s wife in the state, Mrs Kemi Alao-Akala.
