The City Boy Movement says it is targeting 10 million youth votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election as it begins grassroots mobilisation across the country.

The group’s Director-General, Francis Shoga, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja while speaking with journalists at the organisation’s headquarters.

Shoga said the movement would take Tinubu’s record and policies to young voters through mobilisation at the ward, local government and community levels.

He also argued that continuity was necessary to allow ongoing infrastructure and economic reforms to deliver their intended benefits.

According to him, the construction of major highways, agricultural mechanisation, increased crude oil production and efforts to stabilise the economy were among the developments that should be considered ahead of the 2027 election.

“We are building the two longest highways in our history,” Shoga said, referring to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the 1,068-kilometre Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway.

He also cited the deployment of 2,000 tractors under the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme and the $1.1bn Green Imperative Programme being implemented in partnership with Brazil.

On the energy sector, Shoga pointed to increased crude oil production, the Dangote Refinery and the revival of the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries as evidence of progress under the administration.

He also highlighted the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, saying it had encouraged investment in vehicle conversion centres and gas-based transport infrastructure.

The CBM leader said recent macroeconomic indicators, including higher foreign reserves and falling inflation, also suggested that the government’s reforms were beginning to stabilise the economy.

He, however, acknowledged that improved indicators alone were not a substitute for better living standards, arguing that the reforms required time to translate into broader benefits.

“President Tinubu has demonstrated the capacity and political will to take Nigeria to the next level,” Shoga said.

The movement said it would continue its grassroots campaign ahead of the 2027 election, with a particular focus on young Nigerians.

Shoga urged voters to assess the administration on its projects and economic policies, rather than political rhetoric, as the country approaches the election.
