Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will secure wider support from governors elected on opposition platforms ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Bwala said the growing alignment of opposition governors with the All Progressives Congress (APC) was one of the factors behind his confidence that Tinubu would improve on his 2023 electoral performance.
Speaking on the 2027 election, Bwala said he expected more governors who won elections on opposition platforms to support Tinubu than did so during the 2023 presidential poll.
He also predicted a wider margin for Tinubu over his opponents in the next election.
“Let me tell you, and let me say it categorically, and I will be happy to come back. The margin of gap that President Bola Tinubu will give each and every one of these candidates will be so much that you won’t believe it,” Bwala said.
Tinubu won the 2023 presidential election with 8,794,726 votes, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar, by 1.81 million votes and the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, by 2.69 million votes.
Bwala’s prediction comes against the backdrop of political realignments since the 2023 election, including the movement of several governors elected on opposition platforms into the APC.
The presidential aide said the developments had strengthened Tinubu’s political standing ahead of the 2027 contest.
He did not give a projected vote figure for the President or specify the number of opposition governors he expects to support Tinubu.
