NECO Raises Alarm Over Fake Online Recruitment Portals

The National Examinations Council, NECO, has alerted the public on the existence of fake online recruitment portals targeting applicants interested in serving as examination supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, Internal.

The Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, in a statement, indicated that the fraudulent platforms are requesting applicants to submit their academic credentials and make payments, stressing that NECO does not require any payment from teachers seeking to serve as examination supervisors.

The Council explained that it has transitioned from the analogue method of recruiting supervisors and assistant supervisors to a fully electronic process, in line with recommendations aimed at improving the quality and credibility of examinations in Nigeria.

NECO said qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above, who are at least 30 years old, can apply directly through its official supervisor recruitment portal. It stressed that the process is fully automated and does not involve any third party.

The Council noted that the new system is designed to curb recruitment fraud, strengthen examination supervision, reduce examination malpractice, and ensure fairness and transparency in the recruitment process.

NECO is expected to recruit over 22,000 supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal examination, which is scheduled to commence on June 15.
