Bandits Kidnap LG Chairman in Zamfara
Bandits may have conceived shifting operations to target government officials. Accordingly,
bandits kidnapped the Local Government Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area, Zamfara State, Nura Umar Abdullahi, in Bungudu, his hometown.
The bandits in the invasion of the community, kidnapped the wife of the Chairman, including the children. They were later released without any condition or demand. The wife of the chairman had said that "the bandits told them they had only come for the Chairman."
The bandits further kidnapped 2 other residents of the community, identified as Halliru Ahmad Soja, a staff of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Gusau, and Hussaini "Naira," a local POS operator and recharge card vendor.
The in the attack killed four members of the Chairman's security team. They include: Inspector Basiru Lawal, Constable Hamza Muhammad, Nura - ADC vigilante and Ibrahim Baare - vigilante.
The bandits further inflicted injury on the elder brother of the Chairman, Alhaji Bello Umar Abdullahi, ST, a former Treasury Officer with the Zamfara State Ministry of Finance.
Residents decried that the bandits operated in Bungudu over two hours before escaping with their victim without intervention.
