Police Confirm Abduction of Fulani Man in Ibarapa

Officers of the Oyo State Police command are on the trail of unknown gunmen that abducted a Fulani in Ibarapa axis of the state last Friday.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Adewale Osifeso who disclosed this to our correspondent in a telephone interview said policemen have visited the scene of the crime and are now trailing the suspects with a bid to rescue the Fulani man.

Unknown gunmen had on Friday kidnapped a Fulani man, identified as Amodu Shehu, in Abule Oba Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Shehu’s father, Alhaji Amodu, said his son was kidnapped around 7 pm on Friday while coming home from his farm.

According to him, the gunmen started shooting sporadically in the village leading to pandemonium in the community.

Amodu disclosed that his son was abducted in the process; they kidnapped Shehu adding that the case has been reported to the police in Ayete division, as well as to Chief Odomofin in the town.

He confirmed that policemen have visited the scene of the incident where expended bullets were recovered.

 The kidnappers according to the father of the victim called on Saturday and demanded N10 million ransom before they can release him. The ransom has now been reduced to N7million according to the last contact made by the suspected kidnappers.

He called on the Oyo State Government to increase security in Ibarapa land saying the rate of crimes in the axis is alarming.
