IGP assures better SARS

IGP assures better SARS

As part of efforts to implement the presidential directive on the overhauling and reformation of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unite of the Nigerian police now referred as the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), the south-south zone committee has visite Akwa Ibom state police command.


According to the head of the committee, Austin Gbaraba, the visit is to extensively educate and orientate the operatives of the federal special anti-robbery squad on their new mode of operations and rules of engagements.

Gbaraba said they have also visited Eket, Ikot Ekpene and Uyo formations of federal special anti-robbery squad in the state to ensure full compliance with new rules of operations and stressed that FSARS strictly mandated to deal only with robbery and kidnapping cases adding that measure have been put place to punishing erring operatives.

Gbaraba however, explained that  the repositioning the federal special anti-robbery squad was a result of the public  outcry of human right  abuses and brutality by some bad eggs in special anti-robbery unite of the Nigerian police and sue for public cooperation with the police authorities to purge the squad for better service delivery  to citizens and country at large.
