The leadership of the Academic Staff Union and Non Academic Staff Union has declared that the ongoing nationwide strike continues until  their demands are met.

This was the outcome of a close door meeting between a delegation of the  Federal Government, led by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman and leaders of the two Unions held in Abuja on Thursday.

GALAXYTV reports that the meeting which lasted for two hours discussed issues regarding the demands of the Unions and the suspension of the ongoing strike.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman Joint Action Committee of the two Unions, Dr. Makolo Hassan, appreciated the Government effort for inviting them to a roundtable discussion adding that the leadership hope to see the results of the deliberation as soon as possible.

He added that the strike continues until members of the Unions begin to receive alert for their withhold salaries.

On his part, the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, represented by the Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Sununu, said the meeting was called to resolve issues leading to the ongoing strike by the two Unions.

He assured that government is making frantic efforts to resolve the issue and restore normalcy to the Country's ivory tower.

Recall that the leadership of the two unions yesterday declared that they are yet to hear from the federal government regarding the ongoing strike.
