The Nigerian Senate has postponed the North-West zonal public hearing on the review of the 1999 Constitution scheduled for this weekend in Kano.

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, said the postponement is in honour of Alhaji Aminu Dantata who died on Sunday.

Briefing his colleagues on Tuesday, Akpabio said his Deputy, who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Constitution Review, Jibrin Barau, is in Saudi Arabia for the burial rights of the late philanthropist.

He said the hearing will be held on a later date as agreed by stakeholders in the region.

GALAXY TV reports that Akpabio however explained that the public hearing on the review of the constitution will take place in the remaining five geopolitical zones.

According to the time table, the exercise will take place in Borno, Plateau, Enugu, Akwa Ibom and Lagos.
