It was a day of joy for the host communities of Oil Mining Lease 25(OML 25) as the people of Belema, Offoin-Ama and Ngeje community welcome their son with jubilation following the NNPC, SPDC and the indigenous oil firm Belema sign Memorandum of Understanding to end OML 25 crisis.

Managing Director of the indigenous firm said the concern of re-opening the OML 25 between the host communities and Shell Development Company have been resolved.

He made this known after a town hall meeting with the people of Kula kingdom in Akuku-Toru local government area of Rivers state.

Fielding questions from newsmen, the indigenous oil firm founder said it is a win-win situation and an opportunity for the community to tap into their resources.

Cross-section of chiefs present at the town hall meeting expresses gratitude to the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari for listening to the yearnings of the host communities.

With this agreement, peace, normalcy and development return to the host communities while full operations of the facility resume.

Recall that the OML 25 Flow station was shut down in August 2017 by the communities over what they described as unfair treatment by the multinational oil firms operating in the area.
