The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

According to him, the deceased's father, identified as Markus Gabo, reported the incident to the police at about 8.45pm.

Police operatives attached to the Mubi North Division subsequently visited the scene, where they found Markus lying lifeless in a pool of blood.

The officers recovered a knife suspected to have been used in the attack, while Augustine was arrested and taken into custody.

The deceased's body was later evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, where a doctor confirmed his death.

The police said the suspect and the case file would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, expressed condolences to the deceased's family and assured them that justice would be served.
He urged residents to resolve disagreements peacefully and report disputes to the police rather than resorting to violence.
The commissioner also warned against taking the law into one's hands, stressing the need to settle disputes through lawful means.
