Cheques worth Ten Million, Six Hundred and Thirteen Thousand, Seven Hundred and Eighty-Six Naira, Fifty Kobo (₦10,613,786.50) have been presented to 19 families of deceased police officers.
The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi, presented the cheques on Monday at the command's headquarters in Ilorin.
The gesture underscores the Nigeria Police Force's continued commitment to the welfare of families left behind by officers who died in service to the nation.
Presenting the cheques, CP Adekimi encouraged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously, particularly for their families' welfare, education, and future. He noted that while no financial assistance can replace a loved one, the gesture demonstrates that the sacrifices of deceased officers and the welfare of their dependants remain important to the Nigeria Police Force.
The Commissioner of Police expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for sustaining welfare initiatives that provide support and reassurance to the families of deceased personnel.
Speaking on behalf of the nineteen beneficiaries, Mr M.T Moshood expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force for remembering and supporting the families. He described the intervention as a meaningful demonstration that the families of deceased officers are not forgotten.
The Kwara State Police Command reassured serving officers and their families that the Force remains committed to personnel welfare while honouring the sacrifices of those who gave their lives in service to the country.
