Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has launched the distribution of two million face masks in the state.
He said the first phase of the mask distribution would be in the eight local government areas within Kano municipal.
He disclosed that government at the state and local government levels is producing more face-masks that will go round the 44 local government areas in the state.
Galaxy TV correspondent King Richard reports that Ganduje said the compulsory face mask usage order in the state is part of the preventive capacity which the state government is building against COVID-19 pandemic, adding that 1000 sanitation vanguards have been engaged for house-to-house distribution of the face masks.
The Kano state governor appealed to residents to obey the protocols of COVID-19, which includes, wearing of facemask, personal hygiene, social Distancing, amongst others.
He maintained that no amount of total lockdown will stop the spread of COVID-19 if the people refuse to obey the laid down protocols.
