The Federal Government has filed fresh charges against Adeniyi Adeyemi, an alleged fake Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), after a Federal High Court in Abuja struck out the eight-count charge previously brought against him.

Justice Mohammed Garba Umar struck out the charge on Monday following an application by the government to terminate the proceedings and transfer the case to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory for a fresh arraignment.

At the hearing, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), told the court that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice had reviewed the case file and identified defects in the charge filed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

Oyedepo said the review found that the alleged forged documents involved in Adeyemi’s operations were matters that could be prosecuted by the FCT High Court rather than the Federal High Court.

He informed the judge that a fresh charge had been filed at the FCT High Court and that the government intended to arraign Adeyemi afresh without delay.

The prosecution consequently asked the court to strike out the existing charge in accordance with the law.

Counsel to Adeyemi, Ibrahim Angulu (SAN), did not oppose the application.

Justice Umar subsequently struck out the eight-count charge, bringing the proceedings before him to an end and paving the way for the case to continue before the FCT High Court.

Adeyemi, 38, had been standing trial alongside two other defendants, identified only as Femi and Anu, who were said to be at large.

The defendants faced allegations bordering on conspiracy and forgery in the case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025.

The fresh charges mean Adeyemi is expected to face a new arraignment at the FCT High Court. The allegations remain to be determined by the court.
