Nigerian superstar Wizkid has reportedly become the first African artist to cross 12 billion streams on Spotify, counting songs where he appears as both a lead and featured artist.
The milestone, reported on Monday, October 26, 2026, adds another major streaming achievement to the singer’s international career.
According to music statistics platform WizStatz, the figure covers Wizkid’s full Spotify catalogue across solo records, collaborations and guest appearances.
Wizkid’s global rise has been closely linked to his ability to work with artists from different parts of the world. One of the biggest examples is One Dance, his collaboration with Drake and Kyla, which became a worldwide hit and introduced his sound to an even broader audience.
Another defining record is “Essence”, featuring Tems. The song appeared on Wizkid’s 2020 album “Made in Lagos”and reached a much larger international audience following the release of a remix featuring Canadian pop star Justin Bieber in 2021.
The success of “Essence” further pushed Afrobeats into mainstream global conversations and became one of the standout songs of the period.
Before those international breakthroughs, Wizkid had already built a strong following with songs including “Ojuelegba”, “Joro” and “Come Closer” the latter featuring Drake.
His latest Spotify milestone also comes after two other major streaming landmarks this year. Wizkid reportedly reached 10 billion Spotify streams in January before hitting 11 billion in May.
The steady rise from 10 billion to 12 billion streams within the same year highlights the continued reach of his music among listeners around the world.
