Ghanaian actress and fashion personality Nana Akua Addo has reportedly been hospitalised following an alleged domestic assault, with videos showing her with visible facial injuries circulating online.
In one of the videos, Addo is seen receiving medical attention while wearing blood-stained clothing. She appears to have a swollen lip and a cut beneath one of her eyes.
The footage sparked concern among fans and social media users, with reports alleging that the actress was assaulted by her husband, Harold Duodu Norman. However, the circumstances surrounding the injuries were initially unclear and had not been independently verified.
The development has since attracted further attention after additional videos involving Addo, her husband and members of their family emerged online.
Addo’s representatives have now confirmed that the matter is under investigation by the Ghana Police Service. They have also appealed to media organisations and members of the public to stop circulating the videos, saying continued sharing could have an impact on the mental wellbeing of those involved.
Meanwhile, Norman’s lawyers have denied allegations that he assaulted the actress. In a statement dated October 6, the legal team claimed that an injury visible on Addo occurred during an earlier 2021 altercation and disputed the narrative surrounding the circulating footage. The lawyers said the matter is being investigated by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service and is also connected to ongoing civil proceedings.
A separate video also surfaced showing Norman displaying what appeared to be scratches and bite marks on his body, with the actress’s husband alleging that she had assaulted him during a domestic dispute. Reports subsequently said he was assisting police with investigations.
The competing accounts have made it difficult to independently establish what happened, while the police investigation is ongoing.
Nana Akua Addo, known for her work in Ghanaian entertainment and her appearances at major fashion events, married Norman in a private civil ceremony in 2022.
