A Lagos High Court has fixed October 20, 2026, to hear an application by Arcadia Hospitality Limited, also known as 22BET, seeking to serve comedian and brand influencer Emmanuel Chukwuebuka Ejekwu, popularly known as Oga Sabinus, with court processes over an alleged €40,750 contract breach.

The company is seeking a refund of the €40,750 advance it allegedly paid to Sabinus under a marketing agreement, claiming that the comedian failed to provide the promotional services covered by the contract.

The suit, marked LD/ADR/6557/2026, was filed before Justice Adebayo A. Oyebanji of the High Court of Lagos State sitting at Tapa, Lagos.

22BET also sued Sabinus’ manager, Obinna Michael Nwabufo, popularly known as Mike Premium.

In its statement of claim, the company said it entered into a Marketing Service Agreement with Sabinus in February 2024, under which he was engaged to provide marketing, promotional and brand ambassador services.

The agreement was reportedly valued at €163,000, with €40,750 payable as an advance and the balance in quarterly instalments.

The claimant alleged that it paid the advance in two equal instalments on February 8 and 9, 2024, into a cryptocurrency wallet address allegedly provided by Nwabufo on behalf of Sabinus’ management.

According to 22BET, both defendants confirmed that the wallet had been credited, but Sabinus allegedly failed to carry out the agreed promotional activities.

The company said the outstanding obligations included publishing promotional materials on social media, wearing the 22BET logo, participating in television commercials, placing the company’s link in his social media biography, creating an Instagram highlight and attending 22BET events and press conferences.

22BET said repeated attempts to get the defendants to fulfil the agreement were unsuccessful.

The claimant further alleged that Sabinus and his manager later argued that although the cryptocurrency wallet had been credited, they did not ultimately receive value from the payment.

22BET, however, maintained that the alleged failure to receive value did not release the defendants from their contractual obligations.

The company said it subsequently issued demand letters dated June 1, 2026, terminating the agreement and demanding repayment of the €40,750 advance.

It is asking the court to declare that Sabinus breached the agreement and order him and his manager to jointly refund the money.

The claimant is also seeking 10 per cent annual interest on the €40,750 from February 8, 2024, until judgment, as well as general and special damages and the cost of the action.

The October 20 hearing is specifically for the application seeking permission to serve the court processes on Sabinus and Nwabufo by substituted means.
